Non-Potable water is something that you come across often while travelling Australia. While there are several factors that determine the potability of water, the most common reason is that the water is not sanitised and therefore may have bacteria or cysts present. The 3 main ways to overcome this and be able to use the water for drinking and cooking are; Reverse Osmosis, Ultraviolet Sanitation or UltraFine Hollow Fibre.

The HPF H1-0 Series of Portable Caravan filters are designed specifically for portable filtration on non-potable and potable water supplies. The H1-0UFC system is capable of filtering both mains water and non-mains water due to the unique combination of Carbon & Hollow Fibre filtration. The 10uM Exterior Carbon Block will remove sediment to 10uM and also remove chemicals and other organics from the water, while the hollow fibre screens the water to 0.1uM removing colloids, cysts and even bacteria.

Due to the fine micron rating, it is best to rely on this filter mainly for drinking water, rather than utility use. You will find that the filter will be more prone to blockage, especially on poor quality water supplies.

*Note that this filter is designed for bacterial removal it is advised to use this filter in conjunction with a HACCP certified Hydrogen Peroxide water sanitiser. Non-Potable water may also have traces of other toxic chemicals such as heavy metals and high salt levels which will not be removed by this filter.

The H1-0 range is ideally used as a dismountable system as they should be removed during transit to prevent damage through vibration, however they still carry WaterMark certification and are legal to be installed on fixed plumbing as a POE and POU filtration system.
